Landscape Architecture
UConn’s Landscape Architecture Program offers an accredited, professional four-year Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture, as well as Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in plant science, with a concentration in landscape architecture. Read our program disclosure statement.
The major combines creativity, science, and design to prepare students for careers shaping meaningful, sustainable environments. Coursework covers site planning and design, landscape history and theory, graphic communication and presentation, construction methods, professional practice, and soil and plant science. Through seminars, studio projects, and internships, students apply their learning to real-world case studies, service-learning initiatives, and community engagement projects.
In the Landscape Architecture program, students and faculty bring their diverse experiences and perspectives to inform their work, creating a learning environment rooted in collaboration, empathy, and inclusion. At the intersection of plant science and design, our community explores new ideas and challenges assumptions, fostering creativity and innovation in addressing today’s environmental and social needs.

Advising
At UConn, advising is a top priority. Within the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources, the Landscape Architecture program offers a close-knit, supportive community where every student is paired with a dedicated advisor in their major. Thanks to small class sizes and hands-on instruction, you’ll have exceptional access to faculty who know you by name and are invested in your success every step of the way.
Student Project Gallery
Throughout their studies, landscape architecture students engage with real-world design challenges on campus, in local communities, and with external clients. Student work from across the curriculum demonstrates how they synthesize technical knowledge, sustainability principles, and community needs. All students complete an integrative capstone project in their senior year, proposing and implementing comprehensive solutions to complex landscape challenges. These experiences build professional portfolios that showcase design abilities, collaborative skills, and readiness for practice.
